Preparation of the Gifts

The Preparation of the Gifts is when the bread and wine are brought up to the altar for the
Priest to consecrate. This is also called the "Offertory," since during a Sunday Mass the
collection is also taken at this time. (Of course, no collection is taken at a wedding!)

The Prepartion of the Gifts does not usually take a long time, so the music we suggest includes
shorter pieces, or pieces that can easily by shortened.

Some couples prefer instrumental music (with no singing) at this point, but vocal music is equally appropriate.

Click on the titles below to listen to an MP3 file and find out more information about each piece.

"Ave Maria" (Schubert)
"Arioso" (Bach)
"O Perfect Love"
"Ubi Caritas" (chant)
"Sheep my Safely Graze" (Bach)
"The Call" (Vaughan Williams)
"Humbly, Lord, We Worship You"
"Ave Maria" (Schubert)
"Hear Us Now, our God and Father"
"Panis Angelicus" (Franck)
"Rhosymedre" (Vaughan Williams)
